What is Consumer Assistance?
Consumer Assistance staff helps adults, who are age 60 or over, find benefits and services that assist them to live independently in the community. Consumer Assistance staff also helps older adults manage issues with medical insurance companies, medical providers, utility companies, landlords and other vendors.
Do you have to be Jewish to be able use CJE services?
Consumer Assistance serves people of all faiths.
How much do I have to pay for Consumer Assistance services?
There are no fees for Consumer Assistance services. However, there are programs and services provided by CJE that do charge fees for specific programs and services. For more information on CJE’s programs and services, eligibility criteria and related fees call 773.508.1000 and ask for Entry.
Do you have a pro bono lawyer?
CJE does not provide direct legal services, but Consumer Assistance staff work closely with other agencies that provide legal services.
Do you have more than one location?
CJE’s main offices are located at 3003 W. Touhy in Chicago, but Consumer Assistance has a number of sites in the north and northwest suburbs where staff serves clients. Can you help me with my Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps or my prescription drug plan?

Do you offer multi-lingual services?
Consumer Assistance has Russian speaking staff.
Do you offer any daytime activities or programs?
Consumer Assistance has a number of different Older Adult Programs, all of which are open to the community and are free. Resource Specialists make presentations to groups and participate in community events, such as Senior Health Fairs, to share information.
