CJE SeniorLife Supports Meals on Wheels America in 2019 Subaru Share the Love Event

CHICAGO, November 14, 2019 – CJE SeniorLife is excited to support Meals on Wheels America in Subaru of America, Inc.’s 12th Annual Share the Love Event. From November 14, 2019 until January 2, 2020, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of the following charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals on Wheels America, and National Park Foundation.

Through social media and outreach, CJE will encourage its constituents and the community to support Meals on Wheels America as one of Subaru’s longstanding chosen charitable partners. CJE has also collaborated with local retailer Evanston Subaru to deliver meals to older adults in Evanston and Skokie. Meals on Wheels America supports local, community-based senior nutrition programs like CJE’s Home-Delivered Meals program (HDM) to ensure that no senior is hungry or alone. Each donation helps to deliver the nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks that enable America’s seniors to live nourished lives with independence and dignity.

CJE’s HDM program helps to reduce the food insecurity of low-income, homebound seniors. Seniors rely on this program because many have difficulty paying for groceries and are physically and/or cognitively unable to shop and cook for themselves. Isolated individuals also benefit from social interactions with the caring HDM volunteers delivering meals. Each year, support from Meals on Wheels America helps maintain this safety-net service for CJE’s most vulnerable clients throughout greater metropolitan Chicago.

Over the last 11 years, through the Share the Love Event, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $140 million to national charities and over 1,170 hometown charities. Through Meals on Wheels, Share the Love has helped deliver nearly two million meals to America’s seniors. If Subaru customers make Meals on Wheels America their choice charity this year, CJE SeniorLife and Chicago’s older adults will continue to benefit.
