Housing Management Services (HMS) is providing Swartzberg House residents with the life-affirming opportunity to garden as they progress through this very scary and unusual time of their lives. Thanks to hard work and some Activity Budget funds, some lucky residents will be able to utilize their pent-up energy and green thumbs to cultivate some fresh produce in their own gardens.
There are currently 16 assigned spaces ready to sow, and another planter for four more gardeners has just arrived. Eventually 20 residents will work their spaces with the potting soil, seeds, and tomato and pepper plants provided by HMS. The entire project has been facilitated by HMS staff member Valerii Lozytskyi, along with help from Grigory Dvorkin and Javier Rivera.
Although these lucky recipients of spaces will benefit most, Dave Guthridge, HMS Manager projects that “Many more at Swartzberg House will enjoy the gardeners’ bounty when it is shared in a couple of months.” We salute the glory of gardening with kudos to HMS for providing our residents with gardening space and provisions to enable them to enjoy the good things in life!
