Volunteer Appreciation Messages from Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and Governor JB Pritzker

From the office of the Mayor of City of Chicago, Lori E. Lightfoot

April 18, 2021

Dear Friends:

Mayor Lori Lightfoot

On behalf of the City of Chicago, I am honored to extend my sincere appreciation to the volunteers of CJE SeniorLife and welcome all those gathered to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week.

For more than 40 years, the Council for Jewish Elderly (CJE) SeniorLife has enhanced the quality of life and facilitated independence for older adults through community-based services. CJE would not be able to achieve their mission of uplifting and empowering seniors without the help of their dedicated, enthusiastic, and hardworking volunteers. From delivering meals, helping with group activities, giving companionship through calls and home visits, or assisting with transportation, the CJE volunteers help to bring comfort and cheer to our senior residents. Even during the pandemic, more than 75% of volunteers have remained actively engaged. I commend and thank the CJE SeniorLife volunteers for their ongoing commitment to making a real difference in the lives of so many.

I hope your event is memorable and enjoyable. Best wishes for continued success.

Sincerely,

Lori Lightfoot
Mayor

Dear CJE SeniorLife Volunteers:

JB Pritzker, Governor

During this year's Volunteer Appreciation Week, I am pleased to commend you for your continued volunteer service with CJE SeniorLife.

My top priority as Governor is to ensure that Illinoisans of every age have the opportunity to flourish. Volunteers like you are key towards making this goal a reality, bringing crucial services, comfort, and light into the lives of Illinois' older adults. The pandemic has been uniquely challenging for seniors and has made the work you do even more crucial.

Through this work you have shown passion, dedication, compassion, and above all, an unwavering commitment to bettering your community. Your service has undoubtedly improved the lives of older adults throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, and you should all be immensely proud, as I am of you.

On behalf of the people of Illinois, I offer my appreciation for CJE SeniorLife volunteers and wish you a meaningful Volunteer Appreciation Week.

Sincerely,

JB Pritzker
Governor
