Dance/Movement Therapy motivates people with Parkinson’s to keep moving and helps to decrease Parkinson’s symptoms, allowing for more controlled and organized movement. Focus is on participants’ movement rather than traditional dance, though dance styles can be suggested. Benefits include increased flexibility, energy and range of motion.

Tai Chi is a low impact form of exercise that uses slow, controlled movements and gradual shifts of body weight. It is safe for people of all ages and fitness levels. Persons with Parkinson’s and their caregivers will learn breathing exer-cises, relaxation skills, basic stance and alignment. Benefits include improved posture, balance and range of motion.

Participants engage in meditation, breathing exercises  and stretches designed to stretch and strengthen muscles. Every class begins with a meditative exercise, followed by a head-to-toe warm up. We continue with  seated and standing stretches and strengthening exercises.

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the North Shore Memory Cafe! The Memory Cafe is a monthly social gathering for individuals in early stage memory loss. Care partners and loved ones are also welcome to attend.

The Cafe is a wonderful opportunity for people with memory loss to connect with others in an supportive, affirming, and stimulating environment.  Each session will include time for open socialization, as well as a group enrichment activity.  Our March Cafe will feature an engaging session with board certified music therapist Rebecca Froman.
