Sharon Dornberg-Lee, L.C.S.W.
Clinical Supervisor, CJE Counseling Services
Living alone as one gets older can be problematic for some, especially if there are no involved family or close friends nearby. Sometimes referred to as “elder orphans,” many older adults who live alone report feeling lonely and isolated, or they may struggle with having to manage a household and taking care of their health and daily needs without assistance. This program will provide an opportunity to meet others “in the same boat” who are aging alone. The speaker will share research on the impact of social isolation and highlight some of the ways to get assistance and feel more connected to a network of support.
