Healthy Steps in Motion (HSIM) is a group exercise program taught in eight 1-hour sessions designed to reduce the risk of falling by building strength, flexibility and balance.

Eligibility
This class builds on skills taught during the Fall 2017 session of Healthy Steps in Motion. For this reason only participants who completed the Fall session are invited to participate.

Tai Chi is a low impact form of exercise that uses slow, controlled movements and gradual shifts of body weight. It is safe for people of all ages and fitness levels. Persons with Parkinson’s and their caregivers will learn breathing exer-cises, relaxation skills, basic stance and alignment. Benefits include improved posture, balance and range of motion.

Participants engage in meditation, breathing exercises  and stretches designed to stretch and strengthen muscles. Every class begins with a meditative exercise, followed by a head-to-toe warm up. We continue with  seated and standing stretches and strengthening exercises.
