Join CJE SeniorLife for our March Book Club discussion! Renee Hochberg will lead a conversation about The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother by James McBride.
This month’s book focuses on McBride’s loving memoir about his Jewish white mother Ruth. Born the daughter of a poor rabbi in Poland, Ruth was raised in Suffolk, Virginia and went on to marry an African American man in Harlem. Widowed twice, Ruth managed to send all 12 of her children to college despite poverty and hardship. This book can be bought on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. You can also purchase the book directly through your favorite independent bookstore (check for curbside pickup options) or purchase online at Bookshop.org, an online bookshop that financially supports independent bookshops locally and nationwide.
