The mission of Consumer Assistance is community advocacy. This commitment is rooted in the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, repairing the world. From the older adults who live in the immediate neighborhood to those throughout metropolitan Chicago, along with their families, concerned friends, caregivers and providers, our community stretches across the country. From navigating the complexities of Medicare, and other government benefits to the need for affordable housing, older adults and those who care for them can find information, referral, advocacy, reassurance and support through person-centered care from the Consumer Assistance staff.
From the CJE SeniorLife (CJE) Receptionist who directs your call, to the Service Coordinators at CJE’s Independent Housing sites, the Consumer Assistance team of highly experienced Resource Specialists is available to help you identify and apply for the broadest possible range of benefits and support services available to older adults. CJE’s Consumer Assistance staff provides person centered service based on an holistic approach to problem solving, working with individuals and their families to resolve financial or other issues in order to strengthen independent community living. Staff is available to meet with clients at a central site on the north side of Chicago and at sites in the north and northwest suburbs. Staff are bi-lingual English, Russian and Yiddish speaking.
